David Callahan made the President of the Cape and Island Board of Realtors

David Callahan, co-owner and broker at Jordan Real Estate, was last night installed as president of the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors during a reception at the White Elephant.

Callahan, 60, is the first Nantucket Realtor in the 86-year history of the organization to head its board of directors.

“It’s an honor and a responsibility,” said Callahan, who has been a broker with Jordan for 15 years. He earned his broker’s license in 1971, and was a developer in New Hampshire and Boston before moving to Nantucket, working briefly for himself and another office before joining Jordan.

He’s been involved with the Cape and Islands Board of Realtors for nearly as long as he’s been with Jordan, serving as a director for the last eight years and on its grievances and ethics committee for six years before that.

The organization represents about 2,200 members – all Realtors – across the Cape and Islands. Realtors are members of the trade organization the National Association of Realtors, and are pledged to a code of ethics and standards of practice, which include duties to clients and customers, the public and other Realtors.
